Despicable Me - Freeze Ray by IkariyaManga Despicable Me - Freeze Ray by IkariyaManga
I made this freeze ray because I felt it really said a lot about what the movie was all about. Gru could get awesome weapons of his own devious design, but it never really did anything good for him. It froze his life into a heartless person who just shot people to get what he wanted.

Anyways, the gun is really cool to hold.
Made of cardboard cones, a tube and a paint bucket.

May I ask how big the cones are because I'm hoping to make this and I just bought some online, the biggest being 50cm (H) x 11.5cm (D)

They kinda look like this howtonestforless.com/wp-conten...
I measured a spare one I had.  It is 14 in high and 4 in diameter at the bottom.  I hope that helps.  Good luck!

alexis360100.deviantart.com/ar... The ones I bought were quite large but I cut them down, this is how it looks so far, I just have one last question how did you get that nice curved part at the back of the gun because I'v been trying to use craft foam for that part but it's so difficult to shape!

What round part?  The nozzle or the ammo gauge (oval like thing with light blue)

Use google. It's probably the same as your craft foam.

Its only a few cardboard cones and a clear paint bucket I got from the hobby store along with a metal cable from the hardware store. Other than that its just some other random craft parts.

Good luck!

Really interesting symbolism you got behind the Freeze Ray, indeed! Also, this is really accurated. Great care with details, really nifty :D

Funny, I finally got my Gru scarf today for a future cosplay, and I was thinking on doing a Freeze Ray if I ever had the time. If I do, hope you don't mind I use half-the actual screenshots, half-your work for reference! :D

You're welcome to use my shots as reference. Enjoy! I'd do the cosplay, but I'd rather not shave my head or wear a headpiece.

I'm actually just thinking on wear a ponytail that has a similar pattern to his scarf, much of a female version, huzzah :D and some black heels. Anything after that is normal Gru-y :3
Thank you so much!

sorry, no tutorial, I don't intend to make another one. It's essentially a clear paint bucket with two cardboard cones cut in an interesting way. The cable I got from Home Depot. The guy looked at me REALLY FUNNY when I told him I only wanted 1 foot of the cable haha....

Draw a detailed plan and measure twice before you cut.
